Description: Lynn Roppolo, MD is an associate professor of Emergency Medicine and associate residency program director at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Roppolo has spent her entire academic career primarily serving in the residency leadership at the University of Texas Southwestern, incorporating new ideas to improve the quality of education for the millennial learner. She has spent the last two years improving ED management of the agitated patient with the ultimate goal of reducing ED violence and physical assaults by patients on ED staff. She is currently conducting a before and after study on a recently implemented Epic agitation order set at Parkland Hospital that Dr. Roppolo and her multi-disciplinary team created incorporating the new BETA (Best Practices in Treatment and Evaluation of Agitation) guidelines. She attended medical school at the University of California, San Diego and completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at the George Washington University in Washington DC with a mini-fellowship in disaster medicine.
